LOS ANGELES, CA — Aerial photographer Mark Holtzman has played a pivotal role in debunking widespread online claims that the recent record rains from Tropical Storm Hilary had flooded Dodger Stadium. A video circulating on social media depicted the famous sports complex seemingly underwater, sparking widespread concern and misinformation.
However, Holtzman, known for his exceptional aerial photography, was quick to clarify. Utilizing his expertise from decades of flying above Dodger Stadium, explained that the reflection of light off the wet concrete was an illusion and confirmed that Dodger Stadium didn't flood despite the intense rainfall.
"When you look at Dodger Stadium from the side, it is easy to see that the parking lots are on a slope," Holtzman explained.
While some regions were fortunate enough to escape the disaster, other areas like Palm Springs, Wrightwood, Oak Glen, and Seven Oaks experienced unprecedented flooding and damage. These communities now face the daunting task of recovery, with mud and debris flows causing significant disruption.
Holtzman’s efforts to clarify the Dodger Stadium flooding claims have served as a testimony to his expertise and commitment to truth and accuracy in an era of rampant misinformation. His swift action contributed to preventing the further spread of inaccuracies, underlining the importance of verifying information before sharing.
