Scattered around California's deserts and Central Valley are small communities built around water ski lakes. Some of them even have private landing strips (you can see one in the bottom picture in the middle of the bottom two lakes). These lake-based housing communities are pretty easy to spot from the air, but very hard to see from the ground. It would be such a trip to wake up on a lake in the middle of the desert!!
